The file is read and parsed inside your browser — it is never uploaded to any server, and nothing is written to disk. (PDFs fetch the pdf.js parser from a CDN; your PDF still stays local.)

Tap the word count in the footer (or Browse) to scrub the whole text and jump anywhere.
Speedreader is ephemeral by design. It has no accounts, no database and no memory.
The only outbound request the app can ever make is fetching the pdf.js parser from a CDN, and only if you open a PDF. The PDF itself stays on your machine.
